WOOD PARTS AND ANATOMY Taking a Look at Wood Wood is like any other material -- it's made up of lots of different parts! Each part has its own job and function. It's important to know what all of these parts do so we can know why wood has the properties it does. All the pictures on this page probably look confusing now, but if you keep reading, you can find out what they all do!   First, let's look at two different kinds of wood.
